The intention of being on time is a performative installation and exhibition intervention. The work consists of a mobile phone installed within a group exhibition. The phone is connected to mains power supply via an electrical outlet. At 2pm everyday for the run of the exhibition the artist called the mobile phone for one minute and ‘performed’ the mobile phone. The annoying persistent ringing of this phone disrupts the gallery space, disturbing the focus of audience. There will be an expectation of the performance (as scheduled by the artist) and an activation of the mobile phone as 'performer'. What the audience decides to do with the phone is up to them - they can leave the phone and watch it as a performance or pick it up and talk with the artist creating a heterotopic space for a solo performance conversation.

A focus on the phone as an entity and embodiment of the missing physical artist will naturally occur. The work speaks to the continuous anticipation of the artist ‘arriving’.
